Sensitive Concrete Water Tank Project

Apache Junction, Arizona is the site of a massive 1,000,000 gallon capacity water storage facility. It measures 26 feet high with 70 feet diameter and contains 1,000 cubic yards of concrete…approximately 300 yards in the floor, 450 yards in wall construction and 250 yards of shotcrete.

The shotcrete product’s primary function is to protect exterior stress cables. These cables will be set at 80,000 PSI initially and will release to maintain 50,000 PSI, once the tank is filled to capacity.

All concrete mixes used in this type project are extensively tested for strength, shrinkage control and functionality.

The specialty contractor is Currier Construction of Phoenix. The firm concentrates on water treatment plants and related projects as well as heavy civil engineering.

Concrete is manufactured by Arizona Metro Mix at their Queen Creek production plant.
